Stefan Greiner, IT director of garmo AG, already operates our myUTN-80 dongle server. Recently he also purchased our myUTN-130 Scannerserver.

"We wanted to make a scanner, which is attached to a PC, more flexibly available for several work stations in our company in a highly fail-safe way," he explains his investment in the myUTN-130 Scannerserver. The installation took place in two steps. "It took us only 15 minutes to unpack the device, assign an IP address, attach the Scannerserver to the Gigabit port of the switch, unplug the scanner from the local USB port and attach it to the Scannerserver," Greiner says.

After the initial installation the Scan-PC needed to be integrated, i.e. virtualized, into the existing VMware environment. Now the scanner is virtualized across the LAN and the PC is now operating productively in the VMware environment. "My colleage immediately called: This runs much faster!" a happy Greiner sums up the installation.

Sparkasse Krefeld

The Sparkasse Krefeld, the German savings bank, has deployed myUTN-50 USB device servers in about 60 branch offices in and around Krefeld. MyUTN-50 USB device servers enable users working at a terminal to safely access USB storage media. The network environment of these branch offices are server-based computing architectures where it is impossible to locally use USB devices such as USB sticks, card readers, external hard disks etc.. On top of this, the uncontrolled utilization of USB devices in the branch offices is restricted because of security issues.

Some employees of the Sparkasse, however, need to access data files which are transmitted via USB. For example, employees in the real estate departments frequently need to download pictures from digital cameras. In order to enable such users to download data from USB devices, the Sparkasse Krefeld operates myUTN-50 USB device servers from SEH in its branch offices. These devices are set up and attached to the network in places where they are accessible for the employees. If a user wants to download data from a USB storage medium and e.g. save it to a particular folder, he calls the IT administrator of the central IT administration responsible for his Sparkasse outlet. Then the user attaches his USB device to the myUTN-50 USB device server. The IT administrator is able to check the data on the USB device for viruses and other malware that could endanger the network. If the data are safe he will save it to the server where the user can access it, or he can send the data to the user via email.

Primera Technology Europe

Primera Technology Europe, a leading developer and manufacturer of CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc duplication and printing equipment, recommends the use of myUTN USB device servers for accessing their disc publisher systems via the network. Primera Disc Publishers are compact, all-in-one automated disc production factories for burning and printing disks. The wide field of applications include video and music content, software, press kits, trade show handouts, instruction and training manuals, technical documentation, presentations, and catalogs. Equipped with a USB interface, these disk publishers could up to now only be locally connected to a PC.

Utilizing a myUTN USB device server enables users to access this device via the network and even share it with other users, saving even more time and costs! Customers can buy both disc publisher and myUTN USB device server from Primera.

Dynacord

Dynacord a vendor of high end audio solutions belonging to Bosch Communications Systems, has tested its new 24 bit digital sound system processorDSP 260 successfully with our myUTN-50. Dynacord DSP 260, a digital signal processor with two inputs and six outputs, is the ideal tool for managing and optimizing loudspeaker systems. The device features a USB interface and would typically be installed and operated close to the stage - i.e. at some distance from the mixing console.

Utilizing a myUTN USB device server allows to access the DSP 260 remotely via Ethernet, which has an obvious advantage: The sound engineer, for example, can operate the signal processor remotely from his mixing console during a live concert. This gives him maximum control of the sound system from the position of the audience.

Beyertone AG

The musiphone© Next Level BASIC by BEYERTONE AG, a leading vendor of accessory voice and music system units for telephone systems, can be accessed via the network with our myUTN USB device servers.

The two-/four-port announcement and music solution of the BEYERTONE AG Next Level product line is a powerful multifunction system for all tasks regarding the professional programming of announcements and music for telephone systems. musiphone© Next Level BASIC features a USB interface for connecting it locally to a PC, i.e. the complete configuration of the device as well as the programming of texts and music is usually managed locally. Accessing this device via the network with a myUTN device server eliminates the location-based restriction due to a local USB connection, so that it can be managed from anywhere in the network, independent of location. In this way announcements for day, night, lunch-break, and holiday as well as the chosen music can be uploaded from a company's headquarters to a device in a branch office without requiring trained staff in that office.

musiphone© Next Level can be ordered from BEYERTONE AG together with an SEH myUTN Device Server.

IngerSon

IngerSon is a team of professional IT consultants in Dusseldorf, Germany. With longstanding experience in diverse industrial sectors, IngerSon offers their customers full service support for IT projects. This includes, for example, inhouse training sessions as well as drawing up IT conceptions for project organization, system consultancy, adjustment programming, ERP consulting, e-commerce solutions and much more.

As IngerSon also specializes in server virtualization, especially with Microsoft Hyper-V, they had spent some time looking for a reliable solution to pass on USB devices to virtual machines. This is not inherently possible in Microsoft Hyper-V. Utilizing the myUTN-50 USB device server, USB devices can now be accessed via the network. As a result it is no longer necessary to use physical hardware with software solutions requiring USB dongles. With the myUTN-50 USB device server the license dongles have a secure place and can be accessed by IngerSon consultants and customers via the network. Meanwhile, there is a broad range of applications for myUTN-50 at IngerSon, e.g. with the billing software, the telephone system or the CAD software license server.
